Dear Peter,
I quite agree. Much history was lost when the collection was auctioned. Maybe
quite a few did not realise that final permisson was not granted from the
High Court for the auction to take place until a couple of hours before it
took place. I attended the preview the day before the auction, and I attended
the auction itself. I bought 'quite a few' of the lots, and they were not
bought for resale. I am pleased to say I am aware that a substancial amount
of the items sold found a good home, but all the same the whole should never
have been sold in the first place. May I make aware to everybody, that there
was one of the most superb examples of an engineering model that I have seen
that was sold of a generation unit made by GEC. This I was advised was sold
to determine the value of the others. I was told of a room not open to the
public, that held many tens, if not 100 plus such superb such models. Where
did these go??? I was later advised that they were sold - to whom one
wonders? Can anyone advise where they went? If there is no proper answer,
questions in the right quarters should be asked. But of course we the general
public do not matter! I will never shy from speaking my mind in any matter
whatsoever, the consequences for a cause is irrelevant!!! Regards, Bernard
