The discussion about quarries & mines brings to mind an experience I had
when I first began exploring the mining history of Mohave County,
Arizona. Examining the Dept. of Mines & Mineral Resources maps I
noticed the prevalence of SAG mines. Not recalling those letters from
my periodic tables, I asked the engineer on duty about them. He laughed
and said that SAG mines were the only sure thing in mining, at least in
Arizona. OK! What are they? Sand and gravel, he chuckled.
