Mr Greenwood,
Many thanks for some constructive professional input. I will only observe
from here-on, by saying that it seems to me that it's officialdom that is
changing the terminology to suit it's purposes rather than the industry.
After all, the legal professions have to make a living somehow (poor dears),
and when things get quiet other avenues must be persued: people these days in
offical quarters must justify their existence somehow & in whatever way, and
the basic definitions are being distorted to suit, and we the madding masses
get dragged along with it. All this nonsense about what is a mine and what is
a quarry is actually in the cold hard light of day completely irrelevant as
far as I am concered, I dig above ground I quarry, I dig underground I mine -
I have done both both ways (mineral & stone) and the systems of operation &
techniques are completely different. Sorry, absolutely nothing will change or
influence my views - except for the legislation I must follow wherever -
whether I agree with it or not. The Mineral Industry is being penalised out
of existence by nearly everybody these days & I will defend it to the last. I
thank you for the detail & obvious trouble you have gone too to supply actual
fact rather than hot air in this matter. Regards, Bernard.
