All I did was to pass on a quotation - 'I don't believe God meant for a man
to grovel in the bowels of the earth and to leave blood on coal' - that can
neither be right or wrong and Mr Hodges, as a miner in the Forest of Dean,
is/was clearly qualified to speak.
As for 'has never produced anything to tangible benefit to society' I would
respectfully suggest that, unless you have knowledge of a persons
background, that part of the statement is equally an insult to others. The
fact that a person has never been a coal miner does not mean that he/she has
never produced anything of tangible benefit to society.
I am not, nor ever have been a miner, but 23 years service in local
government (at the sharp end) does qualify me as such a producer of tangible
benefit.
