General,
Access to mine any old mine workings is an important issue anywhere now
unfortunately.
As to this site in particular, who can say with definition. Historically it
is of great importance, and it must be treated as so. Who acts with authority
in this case - please advise. What needs to be said about the absolute
desicration of the Rookhope Old Smeltmill site by a body such as the
Environmental Agency, which body are now quite correctly open to a public
prosecution for an act of open vandalism of a site of historical importance,
and whose personel are by their actions now openly accountable for such
actions. May the weight of the law now decend - if the promises of the
present government account for anything.
There are many sites that have been desicrated. Remember Parc Mine.... and
numerous others..... there are those who chose to forget many others. Look
what happened to Frongoch, look what happened to Cwm-Einion - all sacrificed
to good intent........ ! at one time or another - and to the public good - so
we and all are led to believe! But to what and with what expertise. God
please help us all from the alleged experts of/in the public domain, they
seem to have little real knowledge of their actions. Such is life these days!
Regards to all, Bernard R.Moore
