Your fine photo of the Surrender smelt mill has just arrived. For
which many thanks.
The mill was obviously working - and the photo was taken before the
present stack was built on the roasting furnace. The one that is
smoking appears to have a chimney pot.
The feature just to left of centre, in the foreground, looks like some
sort of dressing operation - presumably for washing/dressing slags.
It is not clear on the scan - can I see a launder going into the ore-
lobby area at the left hand, rear corner of the mill?
Tis a pity that more such photo's do not appear.
