If you haven't already done so, you might look at "TIN - ITS MINING,
PRODUCTION, TECHNOLOGY, AND APPLICATIONS" by C. L. Mantell, 2nd Ed.,
Reinhold publishing Corp., 1949. There is a brief, but I believe good,
description of Cornish tin smelting practice. The reverberatory furnace was
first put into use in Cornwall very early in the 18th century. Prior to that
time a blast or shaft furnace was employed. Hope this reference may be of
some help.
