G'day,
I'm researching tin mining and smeltering in a particular area of far north
Queensland during the late nineteenth century. Early mining was alluvial
but later became reef mining. However, smelting techniques researched so
far are not clear except there was there was a strong Cornish influence in
the area that I'm researching.
Question: Could anyone give a brief description of early Cornish tin
smelting and if possible compared to modern techniques or failing that,
websites would be appreciated. I've already tried www.geocities which is
not very explicit. Most textbook I've come across so far have not covered
this aspect.
Any help would be much appreciated
Vic
