Wheal Pixon
' in the built up area on the south side of tavistock, a sett named Wheal
pixon was granted in1834 to john Gill and John Rundle, comprising the farms
of fitzford and Beercause,with 200fms on the course of the lode, east and
west of Ford St turnpike gatehouse. To this was added a length of ground
north and south of the point where the Wheal crowndale crosscourse was
supposed tointersect the wheal pixon lode. In 1838. twenty seven people
were employed on the mine of which little else is known,

Has anybody any information about Wheal Pixon which operated at Tavistock
in Devon around 1834 onwards? No grid ref available I'm afraid.
Any references would be gratefully received.
