Indeed he did have interests in the Forest:
24 January 1856 Greatrex & Williams 1st part; and Crawshay Bailey 2nd
part; William Henry Jackson, Woodlands nr. Coleford 3rd part; and Samuel
Long, Wooton under Edge, coal proprietor, 4th part. Indenture dated 27
October 1843 demised all interest in Moseley Green New Engine (Samuel Long)
to Jackson. Conveyed to Long 17 February 1842 by Heath & Kear. Samuel Long
(father) departed 12 August 1846 and left to his three sons (above)
