Sir-
I am from the United States of America, and my wife is from Mexico. We
have been to a small village in Mexico a number of times called El
Mineral del Chico or El Chico for short. The small
village is near Pachuca, the Capital of the state of Hidalgo in Mexico,
and we will be going there in
the middle of March again.
There is a lot of British influence there from the mining that was done
in the 18th Century, I believe, but there is not much written history
of the region that I can find. El Chico is close to another village
called Mineral del Monte, and I can see the British influence in the
food (pasties, meat pies, etc), and there is a Museum for an old British
Hospital and there is also a British only cemetery with graves that face
the direction of Britain.
I still know little of the history from the British side, and I would
be very interested to see if there is anything written on the subject of
the British presence there. I am beginning the research for a
documentary video of the region, and any advice that you could provide
would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Peter
