It isn't just the first time you work with nitro is every time. Ask me I've
been there. If you don't wash your hands immediately after loading a round
or if you wipe your forehead while you are loading the holes you will be in
for a headache. If you return to the workings before the blasting smoke
clears out, you will have a headache. One of the problems may have been the
peach pits and apricot pits some of the powder companies used to soak up the
glycerin. Just thinking about it has given me a headache. I was glad when
we moved to ammonia nitrate. The headaches ended.
