Moorgreen Colliery was on the Nottinghamshire side of the Notts./Derby.
border not far from Eastwood. It certainly lasted into the 1970's or
possibly the 80's. It also contained the NCB's area workshops until
quite late.

There are a set of locks on the Macclesfield Canal, called Bosley Locks,
and I think there is a nearby village. You would be some 10 to 15 miles
from the northern edge of the Stoke coalfield around Biddulph and Mow
Cop. Otherwise there isn't much nearer apart from a very isolated patch
north of Macclesfield some 7 or 8 miles away.
