In his report for 1889 as inspector of mines in north Wales (with other
areas) Clement Le Neve Foster stated that 'scarcely a mine' in his
district employed electricity, the exception being the Foxdale mine in
the Isle of Man. A few mines had telephones. No further details are
given.
