Wrysgan Slate Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog still had the
derelict remains of a steam haulage engine for its single
acting incline insitu in October 1996, also still there at
the date of “A Gazetteer of the Welsh Slate Industry’ (pub
1991) were the lorry chassis whose engine replaced the
steam engine and the remains of a motor car engine used on
an internal incline. These all probably remain
Should this list be enlarged to include double acting
inclines at Welsh quarries? Several survive, some are
preserved others, some of which are fairly complete, I
suspect are at risk.
