I've had an enquiry from a non-member in Malta seeking sources of
information on Sir John England's involvement with the Bristol coalfield.
Can members with interests in that area please respond. Copy replies to

Josef believes that -
>Sir John England and owned coal mines in Bristol some time
>between
>the years 1745 - 1810. I would like to confirm this, however, I do not
>know where to
>look for documents. Possible places could have been Mangotsfield /
>Westerleigh
>area or Ashton or even Kingswood. It is not certain whether he owned
>coal mines
>entirely or in partnership, it is also not certain whether the mines he
>owned where indeed
>coal mines!
>His son William George
>England sailed to
>Malta. Here in Malta his son became Consul to Britain and Sweden, he was
>also the
>head of the English faction in Nelson's times.
