I find it hard to visualise the socialist bogeyman staulking the corridors
of the mid 19th century establishment and 'demonizing mining'. You have move
away from 20th/21st century concepts and look at mining, or the perception
of mining, from a Victorian 'moral' perspective to get an idea of the vested
interests of those who sought to sideline the role of women. Similar moves
were no doubt underway in North America, perhaps not where mining was still
a frontier activity but in the more established, company led, aspects of the
industry.
But, please, restrict the use of upper case.
