My thanks to Kelvin Lake and David Summers.
My copy of 'The Miners' does not have it's original fly cover so I
have no information about the author and, unusually, there is no
introduction which helps within the book.
I have had a second 'flick through' the book and concur that the depth
of the subject matter appears to be superficial. I suspect that it
was written perhaps for the novice student - secondary school level
perhaps.
I will read it through and post my more detailed opinion in the near
future.
On a similar note I have just received copies of "Coal mines rescue
and fire fighting, A handbook for Safety Officers" and "Mine rescue
and first aid", both written by John William Waltham. They have
arrived on Inter Library Loan and I will review them and also report
back to the list.
Regards
Phil Clifford
