Okay, so it's not in England but the American site for the Coast Defense
Study group has some info on these and some photos. Battery Chamberlain in
San Francisco has a working example where you can actually take part in
"firing" it on the first Sunday (or is it Wednesday, I forget!!) of every
month. The website for the CDSG is www.cdsg.org.
I don't know of any English sites that still have them but it's possible
that Fort Nelson has one.

Subject: Disappearing Gun Mountings
Dear All
I'm looking for information regarding the operation of disappearing
(hydro-pneumatic) gun mountings, in particular; how they worked,
firing rates, any other technical specifications, diagrams and plans.
Ideally, for the mountings built by Easton and Anderson, but
information on anyones would do.
Can anyone suggest a website (preferably, as I need the
information yesterday), publications or any other potential source
of information.
