Dear fellow midwives !
here I have a strange question ! As some of you might have read we here in
Iceland our soon opening a new ''ward'' team midwifery with two teams of
midwives who are going to have continuity of care throughout pre-intra and
postpartum period. Weare reconstructing the deliveryrooms and we want big
bathtubs not the ordinary triangular for which are´nt deep enough. The
professor is calling us now and for sure he is going to tell me that big
bathtubs are dangerous and that we have to think about security. Are there
anyone out there who have access to big tubs ( 140 cm X 200cm) and who have
lived an accident in these tubs?I know that Sheila Kitzinger recomends big
tubs so that the woman can move about and really relax! I have seen photos
of several tubs big and deep but never heard of any accident. If anyone
can give me some advice It would bee of great help.
Warm regards
Margrét
