Dear Andrew
Have just been going through my old e mails and saw yours about distance to
maternity units and presumed this was in regard to Perth being on the cards
to be swallowed up by Ninewells. (My class had a lecture from you, so I
recognised your name). I am now qualified and working in Aberdeen, but
would like a job nearer home in Montrose - a smaller unit also away to be
eaten up by Dundee. Montrose is an hour away if you follow speed limits!!
There is now a local support group of local mothers who are fighting to keep
their choices open - but feel their fight is not just local but probably
national, in that women everywhere deserve a choice in their care. This
group needs help - it needs people who have up to date arguments/research
etc to back up their case. I wondered if you had obtained much info from
your email to the list, also if there is an action group to keep Perth open,
if there is any way the two could come together to fight for maternity
provision for the whole of Tayside.
Look forward to hearing from you
Cheryl
