Lectureships in Sociology
The Department of Sociology is seeking to fill two posts, one
permanent and one on a three year fixed-term basis, both to commence
October 2000. It is hoped that the fixed-term post will develop into a
permanent position The permanent position is primarily open to
sociologists specialising in the area of language and interaction
(including communication, conversation and discourse) whilst
applicants for the fixed-term position should ideally have expertise
in the area of science and technology studies (including the
relationship of STS to environmental sociology or the sociology of
health); outstanding candidates in allied areas of sociology are
welcome to apply for either post.
The successful candidates will have completed a PhD and be able to
demonstrate outstanding promise in research and scholarly publication
in these areas. They will be expected to play a full part in all
aspects of teaching, including the development of research-led
optional modules for second and third year undergraduates.
Salary will be within the Lecturer Grade A salary scale stlg17,238 -
stlg22,579 per annum.
