The British Society for the History of Mathematics is to hold a conference on
H i s t o r y o f C r y p t o g r a p h y.
The conference will take place on Saturday 24 June 2000, in the Mill
Lane lecture rooms, Cambridge (U.K.), from about 1000 to 1730.
The organisers are Whitfield Diffie and J. V. Field.
The meeting is a follow up to the very successful conference on this
subject the BSHM held at Bletchley Park in June 1998. Speakers will
include Dr Gabriel Landini (Birmingham) on the Voynich manuscript, and
Prof. Donald Michie (Edinburgh) on 'Colossus and the breaking of the
wartime Fish codes'.
