Dear MCG member,

The Department of Museum Studies and New Walk Museum and Art Gallery warmly
invite you to Leicester, for the autumn meeting of the Museums Computer
Group.

Sponsored by The University of Leicester, Centrinity and Education City, the
meeting will take place on Wednesday 22 November and Thursday 23 November
2000.

As well as an update on the future of the MCG, sessions also will look at

 - approaches to communicating archaeology using new media in museums

 - recent computer-related challenges facing today's registrars

 - new developments in the use of virtual reality technologies for
museum-based learning

 - training needs for museum professionals in new media

The two days will - as ever - give all members ample opportunity to meet
each other and discuss current work. However, to help the group network
even more, Day 2 includes a 'Data Burst' session, wherein members can offer
short updates and share experiences on work in progress.

The meeting will take place over two sites - New Walk Museum and the
University of Leicester. Furthermore, the afternoon of the Day 1 will be
held in conjunction with the full-time postgraduate programmes in Museum
Studies and attended by the students taking those courses.

If you think you will be able to join us, I would be grateful if you could
fill in the Registration Form below and return it to me (by email, fax or
post) BY FRIDAY 10 NOVEMBER.

For further updates on the meeting (including maps on how to find us) keep a
look out at our website at www.le.ac.uk/museumstudies/

We look forward to seeing you at what promises to be an exciting event,
