This is NOT a hoax....
For those of you who have not yet heard or read the news, a new virus
has emerged that is spreading faster than last year's Melissa virus.
It has already caused the House of Commons and AT&T to shutdown their
mail servers, and is beginning to 'hit' the U.S., having orginated in
the Phillipines.
The attachment, that is being delivered by e-mail, is malicious and
can, if executed, cause serious problems. The details are as
follows:
Virus Name: I LOVE YOU
Virus Attachment: LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs
Virus Information:
This is a script file that has the potential to seriously damage
PC software and operation.
In the event that you receive an e-mail containing this attachment,
delete it immediately. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT.
Anti-virus software producers are urgently working on patches for
existing AV software - for the latest news see:
http://uk.fc.yahoo.com/v/compvirus.html
Network Associates have just issued a patch for Dr Solomon - more
patches will follow.
Regards,
Ian
