It is with great sorrow that I have to announce the death of Dr Aliya
Haji, former Librarian of al-Furqan Foundation and of the Institute of
Ismaili Studies. Aliya was enjoying life and a new job, and was
apparently in good health, when she was suddenly struck down by a
brain haemorrhage last Tuesday. She never regained consciousness and
in the early hours of Friday October 27th she peacefully passed away.
Rahimaha Allahu ta'ala. Friends and colleagues will, I am sure, wish
to join me in expressing condolences to Hamid and their sons on their
immense and untimely loss. Arrangements for the funeral will be
announced when known: it is likely to be at Harrow Central Mosque on
Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. We mourn a distinguished colleague
who combined erudition with an amiability and vivacity that those of
us who had the pleasure of knowing Aliya Haji are unlikely to forget.
