The recently appointed Library and Informatics Manager at Basildon and
Thurrock General Hospitals NHS Trust, Christine Coley, has asked for the
following three vacancies within the merged library and informatics team to
be drawn to your attention:
BASILDON + THURROCK GENERAL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST
DIRECTORATE OF EDUCATION & TRAINING
Exciting things are happening in the NHS and Basildon in particular, with
the building of the new Clinical Effectiveness Unit, and staff to support
the local implementation of Information for Health and clinical governance.
The Unit, which is due to be finished at the end of the year will include a
state of the art Library and IT training facility. To ensure that the
library and information service provides health service staff with skills to
promote evidence-based decision making, we are putting together a new team
whose skills will match the demands of the service. If you want to be part
of these exciting new developments then we have vacancies for the
following:-
INFORMATICS SPECIALIST - REF NO: RL460
SALARY: SMP 24 - £21,899 per annum

informatics and the skills and experience in I.T. to assist health service
staff in gaining access to current best knowledge? Can you educate and
train staff in the use of information? Then you could be the person we are
looking for to manage our new informatics service.
LIBRARIAN - REF NO: RL461
SALARY: A&C GRADE 5 - £14,991 rising to £18,236 per annum Fringe London
Weighting Allowance
We are looking for a qualified librarian interested in developing a library
and information service to meet the challenges of health service staff in an
information age.
As a major player in the team, you will be responsible for the running of
the library, developing the library collection and assisting in getting
research evidence into practice.
PART-TIME LIBRARY AND INFORMATICS ASSISTANT - REF NO: RL462
SALARY: A&C GRADE 4 - £12,358 rising to £14,991 per annum (pro rata for
part-time staff) plus Fringe London Weighting Allowance
Up to 23 hours per week (including one evening per week)
As part of a team you will help provide a high quality service, assisting
users with their library and information queries and use of the IT Resource
Centre. So, if you are computer literate and can communicate well, come and
join us in providing an information service to meet the needs of health
service staff in the 21st century.
