OK, so this is national press rather than medical press, but I thought it might
be of interest to anyone who offers current awareness services.....
There is a UK based web site which runs a daily news/ alerting service for the
healthcare community. It is called NetDoctor, and can be found at
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk
Their team scans all the daily nationals and prints a reasonably good resume on
the site by about 9am GMT. You can also request that they send you an email
alert every day. This contains brief info with hyperlinks back to the NetDoctor
site. As far as I know, this can't be tailored to send specific healthcare info,
but does concentrate on healthcare news only.
They have an archive of these daily bulletins back to Jan 2000. We've just found
the site, and have had positive feedback from the CE who has asked us to send
copies to her weekly, and from our readers who can read printouts diplayed on
one of our noticeboards.
As a point of interest, they also offer free access to Medline (well, PubMed -
free anyway) and Cochrane to anyone within the healthcare community (including
Librarians). You need to register (takes 24hrs to process). I've managed to
register, but have not yet got Cochrane working for me.......I've emailed their
support people.....I live in hope!
