Dear All
I am hoping to shortly be setting up a 24 hour CAL room, cum study room,
cum PC access room (intranet, SilverPlatter databases, Office and so
on).
The room will be in the hospital, so therefore fairly (I hope!) secure,
but will be mostly un-staffed.
Does anyone with a similar setup have suggestions for maintaining the
security of the equipment? I know about some systems for bolting PCs to
desks - but are there any where the CPU can be built into a the
furniture and therefore be inaccessible to users? Are there ways of
protecting printers from people *borrowing* wodges of paper from them,
or jamming paper into them? Has anyone found a printer that is tamper
proof? Do people with open access PCs find that they are often crashed
or frozen and then left to be unusable until a member of staff drops in
to sort it out? How do you help people who haven't had training (I've
thought of putting training materials on our intranet site, posters
advertising training sessions etc.)
As ever, all pearls of wisdom will be gratefully received.
Thank you!
