We have been innundated with inquiries about misoprostol in response to
the Searle letter distributed in August. ACOG continues to support its
current guidelines on the use of misoprostol (primarily found in the
Committee Opinion on misoprostol and Practice Bulletin on induction, both
of which were published in November, 1999). Both documents can be found
in the back of the November Obstetrics & Gynecology or in the 2000
Compendium or on the members' side of our web site (or single copies are
available upon request). Additional guidelines on induction and
augmentati on are found in GUIDELINES FOR PERINATAL CARE (1997) and the
Technical Bulletin on dystocia/augmentation The October ACOG Today (our
newsletter) contains a short story indicating that ACOG continues to
support the use of misoprostol for cervical ripening as outlined in those
documents - and the ACOG obstetric committees
are reviewing the issue this month. Any changes will be released when/if
they become available. Our Excutive Vice President sent a letter to
Senator Hutchinson and Congressman Coburn on October 11, 2000 regarding
mifepristone and misoprostol, with attachments. The letter can be found
on our web site, as can our statement released when the FDA recently
approved mifepristone for abortion. We really were swamped yesterday after
the NPR [National Public Radio] show on misopostol etc - you can listen to
the program through the NPR web site (www.npr.org/programs/morning
- now find through their archives? look for ulcer drug risks -
download as a RealAudio file.
hope that helps...

Subject: REF: Simple line drawings of the human body
Happy Friday, all!
I have a surgeon who is looking for simple line drawings of the human
body, either in software or on the Internet. He would be using them to
mark the sites of tumors or lesions to add documentation to his charts.
I have searched the Internet high and low -- I can find quite a few
sources with fancy color illustrations, but I haven't found any sort of
comprehensive collection of (excuse the expression) body parts that would
seem to meet his needs. I have found lots of clip art collections, but
most of them either have a humorous orientation, or again, are too
detailed and there is not enough variety.
If any of you have an idea where such a program or collection of
illustrations could be found, *please* enlighten me!
Thanks in advance,
Debbie

We have been very pleased with THE SOURCEBOOK OF MEDICAL ILLUSTRATION,
1989, edited by Peter Cull, published by The Parthenon Publishing Group,
Park Ridge New Jersey, ISBN 0-940813-72-6. I have no idea if it's still
in print or if they have been wise enough to publish an electronic
version. The drawings in the book are basic and, most important, free of
copyright restrictions.

Good morning, all!
I'm looking for your favorite internet sites for ER physicians and staff.
I'm putting together a handout for our docs, since we have added a number
of regular and consulting staffers who'd be tickled to have a handy
reference for surfing in the off-times when things are slow, between MVAs
and MIs. Suggestions?

Has anyone had the experience of putting singing up as a partner with
Amazon or Barnes & Noble by putting their icon on the library web site in
order to benefit from any purchases.
Has anyone put any other commercial icons (or other similar non-commercial
icons) on their web site?
I will be happy to summarize for the group.. thanks so much

Subject: Resources for independent learning in residency rotations
I'm working on a project with some internal medicine preceptors who want
to provide residents in specific subspecialty ambulatory care rotations
with opportunities for independent learning. Part of this project involves
building a collection of CD-ROMs and online resources that the residents
can use during the rotations. Ideally, these resources would be directed
toward general internal medicine and contain cases relevant to the kinds
of things that residents in ambulatory settings might see day-to-day
within specific subspecialties (such as dermatology, rheumatology, womens'
health, etc.). Has anybody out there already built such a collection, or
can anybody direct me to a resource that would assist in identifying
suitable resources. Please e-mail me directly. Thank you.

For those who are following the LaurusHealth saga....I just checked the
LaurusHealth site, and there is an addition to the page on which you
search for hospitals. To quote:
"LaurusHealth.com is brought to you by a nationwide network of over 450
leading community-owned hospitals and their affiliated physicians. Click
here to view the entire list of hospitals."
To my recollection, that quote was not there the first time we were
looking
at the site, which was the first week in October. If anyone took a screen
print of that page at that time, I would very much love to get my hands on
it, or a fax of it. Please email me directly if you have it.
Thank you.
Thank you.
