As a health authority librarian, with .4 of a library assistant, I agree
with Emma. If you do advertise HA libraries, you need to make it clear that
we are more for public health and purchasing/management information than
clinical. We can, of course, always point them to the local information
giver for patients/members of the public
Truly I would like to help more, but I'd have to grow 4 more arms and 2 more
heads at least!

Same for us......we don't mind the odd person coming in - as long as they
only use the reference resources (and don't use the staff). If they want
more, they can pay to join, but it would be difficult to draw the line. We'd
rather not be advertised so widely.
Perhaps you should look at patient information services rather than NHS
Healthcare Libraries: Maidstone Hospital has a Trust Information Centre for
the public.....if they can't deal with the queries, they contact us, but
this rarely happens.

Please don't include us, Bob! We have problems serving our existing
membership, without Joe Public charging in! Clinical infomration
provision is different from public health information provision, and we
are neither experienced in, nor funded for, such provision.
Advertising us for BMA members is not a problem, though.
