Following a manpower planning exercise involving the whole of the BMA, the BMA
Library will be involved in a number of significant operational changes,
including the absorption of the Association?s staff library. In the short term,
the changes will entail a considerable amount of senior library staff time. In
order to ensure continuity and development of our daily services we have had to
take some hard and unwelcome decisions to free up resources.
With regret we must announce that the BMA Film and Video Competition will also
be suspended for the year 2000. The Library?s Film and Video Services, with the
exception of the video loan service, will be suspended from 1 September 2000
until further notice. This decision in no way reflects upon the excellent work
of the film and video services, and it is hoped that the suspension will merely
be a short-term measure.
Loans of videos will continue exactly as at present, but from 1st September 2000
and until further notice, no further recordings will be added to the television
archive, no new items will be added to the main video collection. The film
collection will no longer be available either for loan or for viewing in the
Library. We will not be able to take footage enquiries or offer a VHS copy
service for copyright-approved material.
Fiona Robertson and Andrea Lane will now be working to develop the BMA staff
library, but telephone contact details for loans (Tel: 020 7383 6639) will
remain the same. It is also possible to arrange video loans and reservations on
the main Library numbers (Tel: 020 7383 6060 or 6625).
