Subject: Request for enquiry logs to support NeLH evaluation
Dear Librarian,
We are currently performing an evaluation of the National electronic
Library for Health, funded by the Department of Health.
As part of the background research we are analysing logs that librarians
make of the enquiries for information they receive from medical, nursing
and other health-related staff.
If your library or information centre holds or compiles such a log and
you could give us permission to have an anonymised copy, we would be
interested in (say) the last 100 or 200 queries logged, including if
possible:
- the role of the enquirer (GP, hospital doctor, district nurse,
therapist, manager...)
- the original question (if available)
- the question as refined in discussion with the librarian
- the reason for the question (research, curiosity, patient care, health
policy formation...)
- the source(s) used by the librarian to answer the query
if such details are available. Any data format such as Excel, Access or
comma delimited would be useful to us.
This information will be amalgamated with information from other sources
in our final report, and may also potentially be used with
acknowledgement in publications arising from work done in the course of
the evaluation. No enquirer identities will be published.
Please email my collaborator, Claire O'Brien in Cambridge
([log in to unmask]), if you are able to help in this way, as I shall be
away until the 28th August.
Many thanks for your help.
