ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN LEARNER SUPPORT
Temporary post for 18 months
Open Libr@ry is the Open University Library's new service at a distance. It
is being developed to meet the needs of staff and students who are unable to
visit the Library at Walton Hall but do have access to the Internet.
To deliver the Open Libr@ry service we need an Assistant Librarian to join
the Learner Support team, to provide support to students from the faculties
of Health & Social Welfare and Science. Key tasks will include information
management skills training, assisting in the identification and evaluation
of network resources and supporting the electronic helpdesk.
You should have a library or information studies qualification, a good
understanding of issues relating to academic libraries and an appreciation
of opportunities created by new technology. A flexible attitude, excellent
communication skills and an ability to work independently as well as part of
a team are essential. The post offers scope for initiative and personal
development.
Appointments will be made at a point on the Academic Related staff salary
grade1 (£16,775 - £18,731 p.a.) or grade 2 (£19,482 - £25,213 p.a.).
