Hi
We are considering the possibility of drawing attention to 'the hungersite'
across our network and encouraging staff and students of the university to
bookmark and support it. Have any other institutions done this in any shape
or form? Is anyone aware of any practical reasons for not doing so?
For those who don't know, 'the hunger site' (www.thehungersite.com) is a Web
page which lines up corporate sponsors who, for shorter or longer periods,
agree to provide funding for the relief of hunge in response to interest in
'thehungersite'. For every individual who accesses the site and clicks on a
button on its home page, two and a quarter cupfuls of staple food (rice,
maize, or whatever) are provided; each individual can do this once a day but
only once a day.
Thehungersite discourages promotion via unsolicited mail, but encourages the
provision of links. (See its FAQ page).
