Leisure, Tourism and Sport Information in the Hybrid
Library: A one day Sprig seminar to be held on 17 May 2000
at the University of Bath
What is the seminar about?
This Sprig Seminar will examine various aspects of
information provision in the hybrid library.
The Seminar will
*Define and introduce the concept of the hybrid library
*Introduce and discuss the development of the People's
Network
*Launch a new bibliographic leisure information database,
Feetime
*Survey the provision of electronic journals in Leisure,
Tourism and Sport
*Enable delegates to meet other people with similar
interests and update their understanding of key issues and
developments.
Who should attend?
This seminar will be relevant to anyone who works in or uses a modern library in relation to leisure, tourism and sport information. It may also be of interest to academics and students of Information Studies.
How much does it cost?
The fee is £60 for Sprig members and £80 for non-members. The fee covers attendance,
a hot lunch, refreshments and a copy of the Seminar proceedings when they are published.
Where is the Seminar being held?
The Seminar is at the University of Bath. Bath is easily accessible by road and free parking
is available. By rail journey times are around 75 minutes
from London and 15 minutes from Bristol. The University is
a short bus or taxi journey from the railway station. Sprig
can provide details of hotels if overnight accommodation is
required. Please request this at time of booking.

What is Sprig?
Sprig is an organisation which promotes information sources in leisure, tourism and sport.
It has a number of aims
*To act as a special interest group for those involved in disseminating and managing
information in leisure, tourism and sport.
*To disseminate information to users with an interest in leisure, tourism and sport.
*To lobby information providers (such as government organisations, publishers and specialist libraries) in leisure,
tourism and sport for better coordination in provision and to identify gaps in that provision.
*To improve awareness of leisure, tourism and sport information sources.
