I think the fundamental way out of the mobile phone problem is like all
noise issues. If you can, arrange the library for quiet study in some
places and group work in others. Our experience is generally that noisy
people with noisy phones like to be in the noisy parts of the library.

Well i dont think there is much to gained from pointscoring
but surely the main reason we are discussing this topic is
the noise nuisance not the existence of the wretched things
and readers' attitudes to them - that it seems to be an OK
thing to do - hold a telephone conversation in the middle
of the library.
