I work in a law firm that is sponsoring an exhibition at St Albans
Cathedral. The subject is a medieval wall-painting of St Thomas. This is a
little out of our usual type of enquiries and we are well and truly stumped,
so I thought I would try the list...
For the past month, we have been trying to find an article from the above
journal series. However, after three requests, the British Library is
unable to help us. This is because their copies have either been taken
apart and rebound, or reprinted, so our citation no longer matches their
copies.
Our citation is:
Boutell RC
Incredulity of St Thomas
Archaeological Journal
Vol II 1845 386-387 - we do not know whether that is eleven or a Roman
numeral.
This citation was taken from the book of a local historian. Apparently she
does not have a copy of the article anymore. The Cathedral's library
doesn't have a copy either, nor does our public library's local history
collection.
I would be very grateful for your ideas about where we should try next. The
next step seems to be physically checking the AJ volumes at the British
Library ourselves.
Should anybody have a copy of this article that we may have we would be
happy to re-imburse any costs etc. Very, very happy.
Many thanks for your attention.
