We have been asked to submit provisional costings for weekend opening of two
or possibly three of our college Learning Centres. This will include
Saturdays and Sundays. I would be very grateful to hear from any
college/university librarians who have done similar and would welcome any
advice/feedback on the issue generally.
In particular I would like to know:
Did you employ separate contractual staff and if so at what rate?
If the hours were taken up by existing staff, was this offered as overtime?
Do you have a built in 'handover' period between weekend and weekday staff
at any point?
Who is given overall charge of the Library/Learning Centre at weekends and
at what rate is this post paid?
