UNIVERSITY OF LONDON LIBRARY
Deputy Library Steward (CRA3)
A vacancy exists for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist
the Library Steward in maintaining the smooth and secure operation in a
major Research Library.
Under the direction of the Library Steward, you will assist in the
management of staff and scheduling of duty rotas for the provision of a
range of floor services. This will include supervising and assisting in
the movement of books, furniture and equipment; undertaking general fire,
safety and security duties; routine repairs and maintenance reporting; and
to put in place and maintain procedures to ensure that high standards of
cleanliness are upheld. As well as deputising for the Steward as required,
you will be responsible for the Stationery Store including the ordering of
supplies and their distribution throughout the Library as required.
Ideally with previous experience in a customer services or perhaps military

junior-level staff and possess excellent organisational, practical and
interpersonal skills. Basic keyboard and word processing skills together
with an understanding of security and health and safety issues in a service
environment would be a distinct advantage.
In return we can offer you a lively and friendly working environment, give
you a varied workload and an excellent opportunity for personal development.
