I hope list members will appreciate the no-win situation I am in here.
There is nothing I can do that will satisfy everyone.
Having received complaints from list members who felt that the message was
inappropriate for lis-link, I was faced with a choice between doing
nothing and annoying the objectors, or taking action and being accused of
censorship.
I decided on a course of action which I hoped was a reasonable compromise
to accomodate everyone. The message will remain in the archive where
everyone is free to read and reply to it. I suggested that in fairness
to those who objected to the message that further discussions should take
place via private e-mail rather than the list.
Clearly we are never going to have total agreement about this on the list.
I hope though that list members can appreciate why I chose this
particular course of action, and hope we can now move on from this.
Best Wishes,
Andrew
