A one day Library Association workshop on 22 November, London
Discover how to incorporate the Web page features, which lift a Web site
from the simplest format, to something more interesting and more useful both
to 'readers' and an organisation.
How will this event help?
The day will be packed full of helpful 'hints and tips', and 'do's and
don'ts' on Web site management in relation to the features and functions
outlined in the programme.
The workshop will help participants to:
* understand the key issues involved in creating a good Web site
* effectively manage information on a Web site
* design Web pages that include 'forms', 'animated gifs', 'frames' and
other advanced features or functions.
Features
This workshop includes practical hands-on exercises with Hot Metal Pro which
illustrates similar functions that can be found in Dreamweaver and Front
Page Web packages. There will be illustrations of Web pages to enhance the
points being made.

10.00 Introduction, welcome & objectives
10.05 Hands on exercises to establish foundation level and to acquaint
participants with the software in use. i.e create a Web page with:
- various formats of text content images
- hyperlinks to Web pages within the same Web site
- Hyperlinks to Web pages in other Web sites
10.40 Tutor input:
What are 'CGI scripts' and how to exploit them to provide a Visitors
Counter, Guest Book etc.
11.20 Coffee
11.45 What are 'forms' and how to include them in a Web site, especially
the Response Form capability
12.30 Lunch
1.30 What are 'frames' and how to create frame-based Web pages
2.00 Introduction to 'animated gifs', how to create and include animated
images
2.30 Hands on exercise
Creating a Web page which incorporates frames and a response form.
