Research Alerts and new features from ingenta
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ingenta has just released a new Research Alerts facility for its
ingentaJournals service together with a number of other new features.
These include 'My ingenta', an area in the web site for users to manage
their Research Alerts, set up links to favourite journals and access
news and discussions, and direct access to
Research Alerts in ingentaJournals:
Users now will have access to a free, alerting service similar to the
AutoJournals facility previously offered by BIDS. It will send e-mail
notification when new issues of users' selected journals become
available online in ingentaJournals.
My ingenta:
A personalised section of the ingenta and BIDS websites, featuring
several sections of customisable data for ingenta users. Researcher,
library, and publisher communities will be served by three brand new
e-newsletters: insite, librarian insite, and publisher insite, as well as
independent global research news developed specifically for ingenta.
Also, ingenta now offers users the opportunity to take part in online
discussions about a variety of specific research topics, including the
UnCover discussion group. Finally, the new personalisation portion of My
ingenta will allow users to select their favourite journals and link to
them directly.
Direct access:
Automatic IP recognition and optional direct access enable rapid
navigation to the search facilities within ingenta. ingenta has also
introduced a link to the European Patent Office database which holds
millions of UK and international patents.
To use Research Alerts and 'my ingenta' users will need to register for
a personal ingenta username. There is a simple online registration form
available from the 'Register' button on the ingenta home page at
http://www.ingenta.com
