Faculty Team Librarian (Arts)
This is a fixed-term post available for 2 years with the
possibility of renewal.
You will be working as a member of one of the Library's
Faculty Teams to support learning, teaching and research
activities through the delivery of user-focused services to
University students, researchers and staff. The postholder
will have specific responsibility for providing services to
departments in the Faculty of Arts, including collection
management and development and the provision of
information skills sessions. The postholder will have
responsibility for the development and maintenance of the
team's Web pages.
You should be educated to degree level, preferably in
history or a related subject, with a professional library
qualification or substantial relevant experience. You will
have excellent communication skills, including teaching
and presentation, IT skills and be a good teamworker.
You will have a strong commitment to customer service
and be able to prioritise and balance workloads.

development of collections and resources and the
provision of user-focused services to the Dept. of East
Asian Studies to support learning, teaching and research.

substantial relevant experience, with sound knowledge of
Chinese with either Japanese and/or Korean. You will
have excellent skills in IT, communication, teaching and
presentation and be a teamworker. A strong commitment
to customer service and the ability to work under pressure
and balance workloads is essential.

Reader Services
Distance Learning Services Co-Ordinator
This is a fixed-term post available for 12 months in the
first instance to lead a pilot project; if successful, the
post may be extended for 3 years.
The new post of Distance Learning Services Co-
Ordinator has been created to co-ordinate the different
elements of distance learner support within the Library,
developing the Library's distance learning role within the
University. He/she will draw together the distance learning
projects currently underway in the Library and work closely
with the Open and Distance Learning Unit on the
development of library services for specific courses.
You should have a qualification in library/information
studies or substantial relevant experience, with a good
understanding of higher education and the needs of
distance learners. You should have excellent
communication and IT skills, with good teamworking skills
and a commitment to high quality service provision.
Experience of working with distance learners and project
management is desirable.

Regional Support Centre for Yorkshire and Humberside
(JISC Information Services)
Information Officer
This is a fixed-term post available until 31st July 2001
with the possibility of renewal.
This is a new post with a primary role in liaison with YHSI
partner institutions and YHSI Sub-Region Coordinators to
deliver appropriate support for JISC information services
within the YHSI partner institutions. You will provide
support to the faculty teams particularly in work associated
with user training, enquiry desk services and liaison with
University departments.
A professional library/information studies qualification is
essential, with a minimum of 1 year's experience in
FE/HE. Applicants should have excellent communications
skills, particularly teaching and presentation, and
excellent IT and interpersonal skills. A team worker, you
will be self-motivated with the ability to balance and
prioritise workloads. A sound understanding of
developments in FE/HE and in libraries is essential.

Division of Collection Management Services
Serials and Binding
Senior Library Assistant
This is a fixed-term post available for 3 years in the first
instance.
Responsible for the periodicals and binding activities of
the Health Sciences Library, you will also carry out
cataloguing and classification; some reader services
work is also required.
You should have a professional library qualification or
substantial relevant experience. Experience of
cataloguing and classification is essential and familiarity
with automated serials and binding procedures would be
desirable.
You will have good communication, interpersonal and IT
skills, as well as being a team worker, able to organise
and prioritise workload.
Grade: Clerical 3 (£11,689 - £13,532).
Hours: 36.5 per week (includes evening and weekend
duties).

Reader Services
Senior Library Assistant
This is a fixed-term post available for 3 years in the first
instance.
Based at the Health Sciences Library, you will organise,
supervise and assist in the day-to-day operation of
Reader Services work at the library counter.
You should have a professional library qualification or
substantial relevant experience, with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills and have good IT
and teamworking skills. You should have a commitment
to high quality customer service. Experience of
supervising staff would be desirable.
