At the Library History Group Committee meeting in February we discussed the
questions of holding more meetings and improving communications between the
committee and members. We decided, inter alia, to plan and publicise next
year's meetings this year with a view to giving members plenty of warning
that they are going to take place. This might improve attendance. We intend
to hold about three meetings next year at various historic libraries and
places of interest to the library historian in different parts of Britain.
The times will probably be roughly, early Spring/late winter, summer and
late autumn/early winter. Because of the distribution of library history
group members which is biased towards the South East one of these meetings
will probably be held in London.
I would welcome suggestions from list members as to where these meetings
might take place and, dare I say it, possible offers of hospitality. The
next committee meeting is June 10th and suggestions will be considered then.
Note for your diary - The AGM will take place in Leeds on Saturday 10th
June. Details to follow soon.
