For a project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the Bavarian State Library, Munich, is looking for an academic cataloguer (salary range BAT IIa) to work on the library's collection of broadsides from the Early Modern period (1450-1800). The post is available for two years from the date of appointment and will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
The successful candidate will be a graduate with a sound historical knowledge the Early Modern period, of German and Latin, and some experience in working with older printed material as well as some basic knowledge of the history of printing. S/he should be versed in the principles of bibliographic description and be prepared to familiarize her/himself with cataloguing following the German Rules for Alphabetic Cataloguing of Older Printed Material.
The project aims at the creation of a database with internet-interface in which digitized images are made available together with the catalogue entries. Existing bibliographic data from other systems are to be integrated in the database. A knowledge of database technology and the willingness to contribute to the technical development of the digital presentation are therefore desirable.

Im Rahmen eines auf zwei Jahre angelegten DFG-Projekts sucht die Bayerische Staatsbibliothek zum nächst möglichen Arbeitsbeginn einen wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (BAT IIa) mit einschlägigem, abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium für die Katalogisierung ihrer Sammlung von Einblattdrucken aus der Frühen Neuzeit (1450 - 1800).
Fundiertes historisches Wissen über die Epoche der Frühen Neuzeit, gute Lateinkenntnisse sowie Erfahrungen in der Arbeit mit alten Drucken (und daraus resultierende druckgeschichtliche Vorkenntnisse) sind für die Projektarbeit unabdingbar. Weiterhin sollten Grundbegriffe der bibliographischen Beschreibung bekannt sein, auf deren Basis eine rasche Einarbeitung in die Regelwerksbestimmungen von RAK-WB für Alte Drucke erfolgen kann.
Im Projekt soll eine Datenbank mit WWW-Schnittstelle entstehen, über die neben den Katalogisaten auch digitalisierte Images verfügbar gemacht werden. Bereits existierende bibliographische Datensätze aus anderen Systemen sollen in der Datenbank zusammengeführt werden. Datenbankkenntnisse und die Bereitschaft, auch an der technischen Lösung der digitalen Bereitstellung mitzuarbeiten sind deshalb erwünscht.
