We have a similar problem with item barcodes, not yet reported to iii, as I
think I know what is causing it. We have found that if we try to issue one
of several copies (with consequentive barcodes) of a title, the barcode is
not recognised as unique. (The results are simliar to those in Search the
catalogue). I presume that Innopac is truncating after 5 digits. We weren't
able to validate barcodes because we use 8 characters for books and 12 for
users in the Main Library and 6 and 5 respectively in the Nursing Library.

P.S. Comments/advice welcome.
