We have a separate "National Curriculum Collection" here in which
we attempt to keep one copy of everything from the different
government agencies which is relevant to the current curriculum.
It is very difficult to keep track of what should be in this but our
users do seem to find it a benefit as otherwise documents from the
different subject areas would be spread throughout the library (we
do not have a separate Education collection here).
The NC collection has been located in our School Experience
Library and is reference only, but we are considering relocating it to
our short loan collection this summer as documents tend to go
missing around the building and this way we will have more control
over it. We do have a different sequence on the library catalogue to
indicate the NC Collection. Our systems manager seemed quite
happy with this and, once set up, it does not give the cataloguers
additional work.
We also have loans copies of most of the materials in the main
part of the library.
hope this is helpful.
best wishes
