Dear All, but particularly Melvin,
I was on the point of sending off a snarky rant about all these requests
for information from Blackwell going to the entire list, but I thought I'd
check my facts first.
On all other e-mail lists I subscribe to, clicking "Reply to All" gives you
a new message addressed both to the list and to the person who sent the
original e-mail. You can delete the list address, if appropriate, and
you're left with a message addressed to the original poster.
On lis-e-journals, however, this doesn't seem to be the case. When I click
"Reply to All" I get a new message with a "To:" field containing the list
address _twice_. (This may account for the double e-mail from Janet Scully
earlier today.)
Melvin, would it be possible to modify the list settings so that clicking
"Reply to All" gives you a new message with the original poster's address
included in the "To:" field? I think it would save a lot of bother.
The rather cumbersome alternative is for people not to click "Reply" at
all. Instead, select the e-mail address of the person you want to reply to
(e.g. [log in to unmask]), copy it, open a new message and
paste the e-mail address into the "To:" field.
regards,
Léan
