We have a Strathclyde University student with us over the summer and
she has been developing healthcare simulations as part of her Honours
project. She has been using SIMUL8 software to develop a general
Hospital Template and a general Clinic Template that will allow the
user to alter :
a.. patient numbers
b.. patient movements
c.. resources available (hospital beds, clinic staff, etc ...)
They also produce results for each simulation run which can be used to
predict the future performance levels achievable if the changes made
within the simulation were undertaken within a real healthcare
situation.
No additional software is required to experiment with these healthcare
templates. Simply downloading the Business Simulation Player from the
web site will allow the templates to be accessed through the web
browser.
A template is a ready made simulation model which asks the user
questions and then alter the model to correspond to the information
received. This saves the user having to build the model themselves
which can be a time consuming process.
She is keen to test these templates in a real world environment and we
were hoping you would be able to assist with this. She requires
feedback on the templates to allow her to gain an understanding of the
problems which would be experienced in trying to implement such
templates within a healthcare environment and to allow her to improve
the templates to ensure they are as realistic and easy to use as
possible.
These templates are available in an easy to navigate Player version
from
www.healthcare-simulation.com/template
